In Soviet Russia, Time Finds You

Good Morning:

It is a bit difficult to believe that acquiring a job has created time in my busy schedule to maintain my blog. Who would have thought that devoting thirty-two hours per week to a dead end job would rip down the gates barring my thoughts from the rest of the 'connected' world. It is amazing that I am currently being paid $0.109 in US dollars per minute to share with you the various elements of my conscious mind.

To keep from rambling on, I believe I will start the morning with explaining my absence from the blog scene. (Here's to hoping that someone cares.) Since I prefer to be concise with boring subjects, I wish to simply convey a list:

• Final Exams
• The Job Hunt
• The Apartment Hunt
• A Summer Class
• Job Training
• Job Working

Understand? Awesome. Since I know that I will receive a comment with this question, I'll go ahead and answer it; the job that I acquired is working the front desk at a hotel. At the time of this writing, I am working the Third Shift (11:00PM - 7:00AM). It's uh... fun.

Back to what I've been doing, though. Being the curious computer programmer that I am, my interests in that field have gone crazy during my free time at work. While I would love to learn all of them, I have pinned down a few that I find exceptionally interesting. These would be:

• Java
• Pascal
• Ada
• Gambas
• Visual Basic
• Prolog
• Perl

I know that seems like a lot of similar things to learn and I will possibly become confused. However, if I do not rotate my interests, I become jaded and never follow them up. This is the reason why I read four to six novels at once.

I realize that this post may not be entirely coherent; this may be mostly or entirely due to the fact that it is three-thirty in the morning and my veins are pumping with Vault (read as Brawndo). My apologies for any mistakes.

About Me: Generic Title, Not So Generic Story

Good Evening:

I thought it was about time that I told my readers a bit about myself. I have several substantial topics, but none of them would be coherent at the moment. Thus I'm resorting to this fairly generic topic.

The end of this month will signify the end of my first year of college. More has happened in the last ten months than has happened in my entire life (or so it seems). I have been broken and rebuilt, lost and found, forsaken and redeemed. I suppose I should start at the beginning. When I started my freshman year here, I had been dating a (very special) girl for a year and a half. I loved her with all of my heart, but we had been fighting a lot and it seemed like nothing I ever did was good enough. I was beginning to feel less than adequate for her. With the added effect of the physical distance we had to face, it just did not work out (I blame myself for this and rightly so). This loss began my spiral into despair and (clinical) depression. The worst was yet to come though.

The next (and worst) part of the story will come tomorrow since I am quite sleepy at the moment. On a side note, I really appreciate the comments that people have been leaving me. A simple "good job" goes farther than most would think.

And with that, my girlfriend is calling me to bed. Sweet dreams, friends.

Too Much Time On My Hands

Good Morning:

It's 1:30 in the morning, I am in bed, and my girlfriend is sleeping beside me. It's a good night. For the past few hours, we have been watching the television series Dead Like Me. So far I really like it. The angst of the main character Georgia "George" Lass brings a bit of empathy from my heart. Her initial lack of caring and constant wonderings of why remind me of myself at times. Overall, the writing is creative and the actors are memorable. Since it is late, I think this post will be (by my standards) too short, so I'll try to make up for it tomorrow/today. I may even elaborate more in-depth on my thoughts of Dead Like Me once I have seen more episodes. Until next I speak, thank you for listening.

The Beginning: Part Two

Good Afternoon:

I am back for a second post, which may or may not be my last. I think I'll begin this one with a personal story concerning my past.

When I was younger, I hated basketball with a passion. I suppose I can attribute that to my elementary school P.E. teachers. You see, my father was an excellent basketball player in his high school years and naturally, my teachers assumed that I would follow in his footsteps. They may have been correct if only they had not attempted to force the sport upon me. I have never been a fan of being forced to do things. Especially "fun" activities. When I wanted to play, I was good at it. When I did not, I was not. That applies to pretty much every aspect of my life. You may be wondering what this apparent rambling has to do with the present. It is quite trivial, actually. Today I finally bought a new pair of tennis shoes, and as soon as I find someone to play with, I'll be out on the court. If you're still reading this, you have too much time on your hands.

Anyway, I told you that I would explain my blogging topics in this post. As such, I will. At the moment, I have three different blogs. The first of which is this one. It will contain personal information about the day-to-day goings on of my life. Fun. The second of which The Mind, The Heart, The Soul contains portions of a novel I am writing. You will have to read it to figure out what it is about. The third and final (for now) blog will contain book reviews. More than likely, the genre of choice will be science fiction, though I could switch things up.

So there you have it. My life is here for your criticism.

The Beginning: Part One

Good Morning:

My name is of no concern at the moment. It may never be of a concern to the reader(s) of this blog. This blog may never be of concern to its reader(s). I, however, need an outlet. I need an escape. My life is at one of those relative standstills. Currently, I am a freshmen at a state university, a computer science major, no less. I get up in the morning, I go to class, I eat, and then I try to find something interesting to do. It's starting to feel repetitive, though. This blog will (hopefully) break up the monotony of it all. This is why it exists and as I gain readers, my skill with writing will (seemingly) increase. I normally do not show the full extent of my intellect without an audience. In my next post, I'll explain what this blog and my others will contain.
